Amit Narkar holds a post graduate degree in Economics. He works mainly on issues of development and governance from the lens of the marginalised people. Public financing for social development, agriculture, drought, integrated rural development, tribal development and governance are some of the areas of his interest.
Amit has around two decades of experience of working in media, academics and development sector. Prior to joining AROEHAN, he worked as a free-lance consultant to CSOs with a special focus on research on policy issues, capacity building, strategic planning, participatory development planning and development. He is former Executive Director of the National Centre for Advocacy Studies (NCAS). He also served as a Member of the Supreme Court appointed Goa State Committee for Monitoring of Shelters for Urban Homeless.
Amit has published analytical briefs and papers on development and governance issues of adivasis and has co-authored a book on agriculture and water use in Maharashtra. He regularly writes for Marathi magazines and newspapers on issues in development and governance.
