The training was conducted by Aroehan for trainers who train the villagers for better governance. Participants were educated and informed about PESA (Panchayats Extension to Scheduled Areas) ACT 1996, enacted to empower local communities in tribal areas. PESA extends the provision of the Indian Constitution to formalize the three-tier Panchayati Raj system to fifth Schedule areas with certain modifications and exceptions. During the session detailed discussions about PESA law and its importance, availability of funds, and who can utilize the funds for individual and community development. During the sessions, we took an exercise on the listing of the village resources and talked about the conservation of the resources. Also discussed in detail about the “Amcha Gaon Amcha Vikas” (GPDP) program and its planning at the village level.
