A revolutionary protest against no sonography check-ups at Rural Hospital Mokhada

11 November 2021

Our empowered pregnant women raised their voice for their rights to a healthy pregnancy and medical facilities in front of the hospital government officials and staff. On 28th October 2021, all the women along with the Aroehan health team gathered to discuss the issue and inform the hospital authorities that if they were not taken seriously then on the 11th of November they will call out for a strike against the government hospital and remain seated indefinitely in front of the hospital. The issue persists since July 2021 the pregnant women were deprived of regular sonography check up’s. The inconvenience was caused due to the unavailability of the sonologist at the sonography centre. The sonologist stopped coming to the centre because he was not paid on time. This situation made pregnant women suffer due to irregular or no check-ups, travel from far and remote places paying huge fare amounts, and long waiting hours.

On 11th November 2021, Pregnant women conquered the fight against “No Sonography check-ups”. The women who were facing adversity since July 2021 ended on 11th November 2021. They registered a big success by resuming the sonography services and health check-ups at Rural Hospital, Mokhada. On that day 52 pregnant women were examined and sonography checkups were completed. The sonologist has been appointed and the facility of sonography check-up is resumed after a long pause.
